POLO contract verification Employment standards

Your employment contract should meet the "Employment Standards" defined by the POEA. This is a requirement to getting contract verified by the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO).

Contract provisions

Your employment contract should have all the provisions defined in the "Employment standards" of the Revised POEA Rules and Regulations 2016. If your contract is missing any of these provisions, they'll need to be added through an addendum. There are 14 provisions required:

2018 citation

The same list is also available in Memorandum Circular No. 08 of 2018. This was a circular implemented in May of 2018 to reinforce some of the rules in the Revised Rules and Regulations of 2016 above.

  • Review if your work contract has provisions for the employment standards above.

  • If it doesn't have all the required provisions (which is usually the case!), secure a contract addendum from your employer.
